Annual Run to LIVE Sends 15 Families to Camp Sunshine

Proceeds from our successful “Run to Live” Event were used to send 15 local Lehigh Valley families to Camp Sunshine respite in Maine!

Our event hosted over 1,500 participants including runners, walkers and children who ran our “fun-run.” We had many wonderful volunteers and supporters who helped ensure the day’s success.

We are extremely pleased that our event raised nearly $50,000 to support PCFLV’s free, quality of life and long-term survivorship programs!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! To all of our supporters, participants, vendors and volunteers! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Bone Marrow Donor Drive at our Run to LIVE Event

PCFLV is working with the largest bone marrow donor center in the world, DKMS, to host a bone marrow donor drive at the upcoming 3rd Annual Run to Live. The donation process is free and simple – some paperwork and a quick cheek swab. Each swab is processed by DKMS and entered into the world-wide Be The Match registry. Each time a patient needs a match, the registry is reviewed. If a match is found, the individual is contacted and consent is requested (each individual listed on the registry has the opportunity to decline participation when contacted). It’s that simple.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 55 and are in good general health, please Get Swabbed at the PCFLV Run to Live on Sat. March 24th. We will provide you with the medical specifics and the registration form at bag pickup on Thursday March 22nd (3-6pm) or Friday March 23rd (11am-7pm) or we can talk with you and have you complete the form at the walk/run on Saturday March 24th. It only takes a few minutes! If you are unable to Get Swabbed at this event, please visit GetSwabbed.org and click on the Register Now tab at the top of the page. DKMS will send you the necessary items to get you on the registry – free of charge.

It costs DKMS $65 to process each swab; however, that cost is never passed on to the individual. If you are unable to Get Swabbed, please consider making a monetary donation to help offset the processing fee. Please visit GetSwabbed.org for more information.
